Srinagar: Six opposition members on Thursday submitted a resolution on the restoration of Article 370 and 35A to the Speaker of the House and sought voting in the assembly on it.

Talking to media persons Peoples Conference (PC) Chairman and MLA Sajad Lone said that six members including Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member Waheed Para, Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) Sheikh Khursheed, and three Independents submitted the resolution to Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather condemning the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A in the house.

Sajad who was accompanied by the PDP MLA Para said that “the resolution named as people’s resolution is unconditional and without tinkering of words in which we have clearly condemned the August 5, 2019 action of central government and seeking the House should conduct voting on it”.

A resolution submitted by the ruling National Conference (NC) and its allies seeking restoration of special status to Jammu and Kashmir was passed in the assembly on Wednesday.

Sajad alleged that “NC has passed a weak resolution which has humiliated and betrayed the people of Jammu and Kashmir”.

“We supported the National Conference led resolution in the house yesterday. But when we go through it and get the feedback from the people, the special status mentioned in it does not clearly mention Article 370 and 35A”, Sajad said.

However, we are not criticizing this resolution, Sajad said.

He said on a weak resolution nobody could speak on it. "One side BJP is shouting in the house and the other side NC.what kind of a fixed match is it?” Sajad questioned.

“NC should come clear on the resolution condemning the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A in the house and we will support them”, Sajad said.

“I asked them (NC) to vote on our resolution and we will apologize to them. If they did not vote on it then it is a fixed match between NC and BJP”, he alleged.

“We demand to restore Article 370 and 35A to Jammu and Kashmir and the humiliation which has been done by scrapping the statehood should also be restored”, the PC Chairman said.

He said they are also rejecting all reorganisation acts passed during the period mentioned in the resolution.

He said the NC having 42 members and some independents also in the house should support our resolution, move the resolution on which we will vote, or clear the difference in their and ours resolution.

Sajad said that “a BJP leader Amit Malviya tweeted Wednesday welcoming the NC resolution that they have given up the Article 370 and seeking dialogue on it. But later he deleted the tweet on social network X”, he said.
