Jammu: In a bizarre incident, apples with slogans like 'Azadi', 'Burhan Wani', 'Zakir Musa Zindabad', were recovered from the boxes by a roadside fruit seller in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the reliable sources here said that a fruit vendor near Mookherji Chowk in Kathua town this afternoon opened one of the boxes of apples and found some of them allegedly had slogans printed like 'Hum Kya Chahte Azadi' (we want freedom), 'Burhan Wani Zindabad', 'Zakir Musa Zindabad', 'Pakistan Zindabad'.
They further said , ''the vendor informed to the police following which the boxes of apples with slogans, was seized by the police party.''
''The boxes were transported from Jammu Fruit Market and police is trying to investigate the matter," sources added.
Police however, said that apples with slogans were recovered from the boxes transported from Jammu but it is being ascertained whether it is a handiwork of some trouble shooter or a foul-play of someone else.
''We are in touch with Jammu police to find out from whether the boxes were transported or they were packed in Jammu Fruit mandi itself,'' the Kathua police said.
Meanwhile, a brief protest was also staged by the locals demanding action against those who tried to disturb the peace in the area.(UNI)
