Srinagar: The security forces averted a major militant attack by recovering 30 kg of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the summer capital, Srinagar, officials said on Tuesday.
They said that following specific information, a joint search operation was launched by Army, police and CRPF at Tangpura in Srinagar late last evening. “Army’s dog squad and bomb disposal squads were called in to detect and destroy the IED,” they said.
They said the search operation led to the recovery of a 30 kg IED from Tangpura Bandh, which is a stone throw away from the national highway. “The IED was destroyed safely at the site on Tuesday,” they said.
They said timely input and action by security forces averted a major militant attack. “Army stands by its commitment to keep Kashmir safe,” they added. (UNI)
