Arun Jaitley’s mortal remains kept at BJP HQ; Rajnath Singh, other leaders pay homage

New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, union minister for road transport Nitin Gadkari, BJP state chief Manoj Tiwari, MP Babul Supriyo, party’s national general secretary Ram Madhav, Baba Ramdev and Kirron Kher paid their last respects to former Union Minister Arun Jaitley at party headquarters on Sunday.

Arun Jaitley’s body was brought to the BJP headquarters located on the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg here from his Kailash Colony residence.

After remaining on life support for a week, Jaitley passed away on Saturday noon at AIIMS.

He was 66. He was admitted following breathing trouble and weakness.

BJP workers and mourners queued up outside the BJP office where Jaitley’s casket, wrapped in the national flag, was placed.

Jaitley’s wife Sangeeta, daughter Sonali and son Rohan too are present at the BJP office.

Jaitley will be cremated with state honours this afternoon.

Between 1300 hrs-1430 hrs, a funeral procession will be carried out on eight-km route from the BJP office to the Nigambodh Ghat on the banks of Yamuna river, where the last rites will take place at 1430 hrs. (UNI)
