As Union Minister Jaishankar calls on seven visiting dignitaries

Union Minister S Jaishankar on Monday called on the visiting leaders of Mauritius, the Maldives, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and the Seychelles.

Jaishankar, who is most likely to be reappointed as External Affairs Minister in Modi 3.0, met with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Mauritius PM Pravind Jugnauth, Maldives President Mohd Muizzu, Bhutan PM Tshering Tobgay, Nepal PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Seychelles Vice President Ahmed Afif.

Jaishankar, who has changed his X bio to read Union Minister of India, posted on X after meeting with the Sri Lankan President:

“Appreciate President Ranil Wickremesinghe of Sri Lanka for receiving me this morning in New Delhi.“Recognized the steady progress in India-Sri Lanka relations.”

On his meeting with the Bangladesh PM, he posted: “Honoured to call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh today.
The India-Bangladesh Maitri continues to advance.”On his call on the Maldives President, he posted:

“Delighted to call on President Dr Mohamed Muizzu of Maldives today in New Delhi.“Look forward to India and Maldives working together closely.”

On his meeting with the Nepal PM, he posted:“So glad to call on PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ of Nepal.

“Discussed the growing various facets of India-Nepal cooperation.”On his call on the Mauritius PM, he posted: “Pleased to call on PM Pravind Jugnauth of Mauritius.

Our conversation reflected the special India-Mauritius bond.”After meeting the Bhutanese PM, he posted:“Great to meet PM Tshering Tobgay of Bhutan.“Spoke about our unique and multifaceted friendship.”

On his call on the Seychelles leader, he posted: “Good to meet Vice President Ahmed Afif of Seychelles.Look forward to further strengthening our long-standing partnership.”

The leaders from the seven neighbouring nations were in New Delhi to participate in the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Modi and his Council of Ministers on Sunday evening.(UNI)<>
