Ashok Gehlot submits resignation as CM

Following the debacle of the ruling Congress, which failed to repeat its performance in 2018 assembly elections, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot met Governor Kalraj Mishra and tendered his resignation on Sunday, sources in Raj Bhawan said here.

Sources said that Gehlot reached the Governor's residence in the evening and submitted his resignation.Notably, the Congress, which won 100 seats in the last assembly elections, failed to reach the magic mark this time. According to the Election Commission of India , the Congress party crossed the magic mark of 60 seats in the counting of votes after it won 13 seats and leading in 50 while the BRS was leading in 33 seats after it won 7 seats.
