Lucknow:Sleuths of the Anti Terrorists Squad (ATS) claimed to have busted a gang that was involved in human trafficking racket bringing Bangladeshis and Rohingyas into the country.
They arrested three members of the gang on Tuesday and claimed that the group was involved in human trafficking especially of women and children to settle them in cities like Ghaziabad, Noida, Delhi through forged documents.
According to an official communiqué, the sleuths of the ATS were getting information for some time that an international gang was illegally bringing citizens of Bangladesh and Myanmar, especially women and children, to India to settle them in cities like Noida, Ghaziabad, and Delhi. Upon investigation, it was found that the leader of this international human trafficking gang is Muhammad Noor alias Noorul Islam, who was illegally luring Rohingya and Bangladeshi women into marriage, and men and children to work in factories, the release metioned. By bringing them to India, they were made to settle on the basis of coded forms.
According to the information given by the police, these human traffickers exploit victims including women and children financially, physically, and mentally. It also came to light that smugglers are earning a huge amount of money from this work. ATS investigation revealed that Noor Muhammad was going to Delhi by train (Brahmaputra Mail) along with some Rohingya and Bangladeshi nationals when the probing team deboarded 5 persons including two girls and interrogated them in Ghaziabad. Besides Islam, the other two arrested have been identified as Rahmatullah and Safiurrehman alias Safiullah, all hailing from Myanmar.
Earlier in June also, four members of the gang that sent Rohingyas to India have been arrested. Rohingyas were living illegally in the country. Around 15 Rohingyas have been arrested from Uttar Pradesh so far. The gang who were involved in these illegal activities used to send them through the Myanmar-Bangladesh border. The gang was involved in illegal documents and human trafficking. A person named Hafiz Shafiq was running this gang in Meerut. "Gang members used to make fake United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Cards and take a lot of money and then help people enter India illegally after making their fake Indian IDs. These people were involved in criminal and anti-national activities," said Prashant Kumar, ADG Law & Order.
"They've also sent some Rohingya women abroad using fake documents. This is the first time, that human trafficking angle came to knowledge as they've sent some women to Malaysia. Investigation is underway," Prashant Kumar earlier revealed. The money was being circulated through hawala. Metals like gold have also been recovered from the arrested Rohingya, he informed.The ATS also arrested two members of the Rohingya community for illegally living and smuggling into India by forging documents just two days before the above arrest.
