Shimla: Achal Jindal, NHAI Manager (Technical), has filed a police complaint alleging that Himachal Pradesh Minister Anirudh Singh and his supporters physically assaulted him and his colleague Yogesh during an inspection at Bhattakuffer, Shimla city, on June 30.
The incident occurred after a dispute over a building collapse near an ongoing highway project, sources said.
In his complaint, Jindal stated: "The Minister took us to a nearby room and beat me with a water pitcher, causing head injuries. When Yogesh intervened, he was also assaulted. Despite SDM and police presence, no one helped."
Shimla SP Sanjeev Gandhi confirmed an FIR has been registered.
The altercation followed the collapse of a vacant five-storey building in Mathu Colony, owned by Ranjna Verma. Locals blame highway construction for destabilizing the structure. NHAI maintains the building fell outside their project boundary.
Opposition leader Jairam Thakur demanded Minister Singh's dismissal, calling the assault "a breakdown of constitutional decorum."
Meanwhile, the complainant and Highways Engineer Association have lodged a complaint with Union Minister of Road, Highway and Surface Transport Nitin Gadkari seeking action against the accused.
