Bharat Bandh evokes good response, rail services and road traffic hit

Patna:'Bharat Bandh' called by upper caste organisations to protest against the Parliament passing an amendment to the Scheduled Castes and Schedule Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act that overrode a Supreme Court diluting it evoked good response across Bihar today.
Bandh protagonists took to streets in the state capital and almost all districts of the 
state since morning disrupting movement of trains and blocking roads by burning tyres. 
Long queues of vehicles were also witnessed on National Highways and State Highways 
across the state.
 
The traffic was thrown completely out of gear at the busiest roundabouts of the state 
capital, Dakbunglow roundabout causing great inconvenience to officer goers. The road 
traffic was also badly hit at some other places in the state capital including Income Tax 
roundabout.
 
Demonstrators raising anti-government slogans asked the Centre to rollback the amendment bill immediately.Private schools in the state capital and also in majority of districts declared holiday in view of Bharat Bandh.  
 
Elaborate security arrangements have been made across the state to prevent any untoward
incident during the agitation.(UNI)
