Bhubaneswar: Club Chocolate, a professional baking and fine patisserie school in Bhubaneswar, has crafted a 70-kg chocolate sculpture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to mark his 75th birthday.

Co-founder of Club Chocolate, Rakesh Kumar Sahu, said this is the first time in the world that a chocolate sculpture of a political leader has been created.

The initiative was undertaken with the support of 15 final-year diploma students and faculty member Ranjan Parida.

Sahu added that such a chocolate sculpture of a political leader has never been attempted anywhere else in the world.

Work began last Saturday, and within just seven days, the students meticulously completed the life-like model, weighing 70 kg—crafted using 55 kg of dark chocolate and 15 kg of white chocolate.

Earlier, Club Chocolate had created similar chocolate sculptures, including a 100-kg idol of Lord Ganesha and a 30-kg replica of the Hockey World Cup trophy, which were later demolished after a few months.

The Modi sculpture is being preserved in a cooling room to keep it fresh until the Prime Minister’s birthday. “We will keep it as long as the Prime Minister wishes. It will be destroyed only after his clearance,” Sahu said.

The sculpture also incorporates symbols of Modi’s key initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, ISRO, and Digital India—blending artistry with a tribute to the Prime Minister’s leadership.

Sahu further said the sculpture was also aimed at drawing the attention of the Odisha government to encourage pastry art in the state.

“Pastry art has been promoted in cities like Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai. We want similar encouragement in Odisha so that our students can showcase their skills and innovative work,” he added.
