Maximum temperature in Delhi is the lowest after 119 years

New Delhi:The National capital continued to reel under biting cold conditions on Tuesday with the minimum temperature settling at 4.8 degrees Celsius.Though the Delhi government has extended the night shelter facilities across the city, some homeless braved the bone numbing chill by lighting bonfires.
Air quality was under the severe category with index value over 400 in the morning , according to the Central Pollution Control Board.
 
Senior doctors have advised the people, especially with heart and respiratory troubles to be extra cautious in  the prevailing conditions as severe air mixed with low temperatures poses more risk.Met office has also issued a red warning for the city and the severe cold conditions are likely to continue for the coming couple of days.
 
The weatherman has said that the sky is likely to be clear through the day while the mercury will drop towards evening and night.On Monday, the maximum day temperature was the lowest after 119 years and settled at 9.4 degrees C, the weather office said.(UNI)
