Kolkata: BJP leader and in-charge of West Bengal Amit Malviya on Tuesday accused the ruling TMC of attempting to rig the poll and stealing the EVMs, his statement came after chief minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee also accused blatant misuse of central forces in the polling.

“EVMs found in TMC leaders house in Uluberia Uttar, Howrah district, a seat going to poll today,” Mr Malviya tweeted.

“The TMC is trying everything - from intimidating voters to stealing EVMs but nothing seems to be working for them. Voters have deserted them. BJP Anbe Asol Poriborton,” Mr Malviya, the national in-charge of BJP’s Information & Technology department and co-incharge of West Bengal, said.

“Despite widespread attempts to rig the polls, stop BJP agents from reaching polling stations, violence, intimidation, the third phase, which TMC thought would go their way, is turning out to be a nightmare for them. People are turning out in large numbers and voting. Game on,” said Mr Malviya.

He said, “TMC has become a party of goons. What is also needed is some voters... It is the same story everywhere. From Magrahat Purba to Baruipur Purba to Mandirbazar Vidhan Sabha, TMC booths wear a deserted look.”

Earlier in the day in a fresh allegation against the central forces, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said the blatant misuse of Central forces continued unabated.

West Bengal is polling for 31 seats in the third phase in districts of South 24 Parganas, Howrah and Hooghly.

Stray violence reports have been coming from the poll bound districts both the ruling TMC and oppositions, including the BJP have been blaming each other for violence.

“The blatant misuse of Central forces continues unabated. Despite us repeatedly raising this issue, @ECISVEEP continues to be a mute spectator while men in uniform are being misused at several places to openly intimidate TMC voters & influence many to vote in favour of one party,” Ms Banerjee wrote on her twitter account.
