BJP fails to pick new CM of Manipur after Biren Singh's resignation

Imphal: The BJP has failed to pick a new leader as the next Chief Minister of Manipur after the resignation of N Biren Singh.

BJP leader Sambit Patra who reached here on Sunday held series of talks with BJP MLAs and leaders to appoint a new leader among the BJP MLAs who will become the next CM.

Patra went to Raj Bhawan on Wednesday and held talks with Governor AB Bhalla.

K Shyam MLA of BJP said 'it is for the BJP leaders to decide who will be the next CM'.

Sources said the BJP MLAs were divided into two groups and hence it was taking time to resolve the matter.

Various names came up for the next CM but the BJP has not yet announced the name.
