New Delhi: BJP leaders Sambit Patra and Shobha Karandlaje on Thursday flayed senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor for his remarks that if the saffron party wins 2019 general elections, India will become a 'Hindu Pakistan' and said such statement only defame Hindus.
"Shameless Congress doesn't lose any opportunity to demean India & defame the Hindus.
From ''Hindu terrorists'' to ''Hindu-Pakistan'' the Pak appeasing policies of Congress are unparalleled," BJP spokesman Sambit Patra tweeted.
Almost in an identical missive on the micro-blogging site, MP from Karnataka Shobha Karandlaje also wrote: "Mr Shashi Tharoor says India will become "Hindu-Pakistan" if BJP returns to power in 2019. Shameless Congress party doesn't lose any opportunity to demean India and defame Hindus".
Mr Tharoor on Wednesday was quoted by a section of media stating that if it returns to power in 2019, the BJP will write a new constitution which will turn the country into 'Hindu Pakistan'.
"If they (BJP) win a repeat in the Lok Sabha our democratic constitution as we understand it will not survive as they will have all the elements they need to tear apart the constitution of India and write a new one," former Union Minister has been quoted as saying.
The Thiruvananthapuram MP, Mr Tharoor was on Saturday granted regular bail by a Delhi court in the case relating to his wife Sunanda Pushkar's death four years ago in a luxury hotel in Delhi. (UNI)
