BJP leaders extend greetings on party's 41st foundation day
, Tuesday, 6 April 2021 (15:08 IST)
New Delhi:Bharatiya Janata Party leaders Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah and JP Nadda on Tuesday extended greetings on the occasion of the 41st foundation day of the party.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that the BJP is working towards nation building by taking all sections of the society into confidence. We are proud that India under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi has established itself as a strong and self-respecting country. "Hearty congratulations to all the workers and supporters of BJP's foundation day," he tweeted in Hindi.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in his greeting, wished all the BJP workers on the occasion, "I salute all the great men who made the BJP a huge banyan tree with their blood sweat."

"Under the leadership of Nationalist ideology, Antyodaya and under the leadership of Modi ji, BJP is constantly trying to make the country self-reliant," his tweet further read.

Party president Jagat Prakash Nadda, also tweeted in Hindi and said, "On the occasion of the foundation day of the Bharatiya Janata Party, I salute all the great men of the organization who have surrendered themselves and brought the party to this glory. The BJP is an organization whose party is the family for its members."

He further added, "In order to realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dream of a new India, we have to prove it through 'Seva Hi Sangathan' while living the mantra of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas - Sabka Faith'.Wishing all the workers a very happy birthday of BJP."

The BJP's origin lies in the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, formed in 1951 by Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. After the State of Emergency in 1977, the Jana Sangh merged with several other parties to form the Janata Party; it defeated the incumbent Congress party in the 1977 general election.

Later in 1980, the national executive council of the Janata Party banned its members from being 'dual members' of the party and the RSS. Consequently, the former Jana Sangh members left the party and floated a new political party. Thus, the BJP came into existence on April 6, 1980.
