BJP offered Congress MLAs Rs 50 crore each to topple govt: Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has accused the BJP of attempting to destabilise his government by offering substantial bribes to state legislators.

He claimed that the opposition party offered Rs 50 crore each to 50 MLAs in a bid to "overthrow the Siddaramaiah government."

"Where did they get so much money from?" Siddaramaiah questioned, suggesting that senior BJP figures may be implicated in the alleged bribery scheme. "Did former Chief Ministers B S Yediyurappa and Basavaraj Bommai, Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka, or BJP state president B Y Vijayendra print the money?"

Siddaramaiah argued that the BJP’s failure to execute their plan has now led them to pursue "false cases" against him and his administration, claiming that they have turned to legal avenues in a renewed effort to unseat the government. He accused the BJP of launching a campaign against his administration, using "legal action" as their latest strategy.

The BJP has yet to respond to these allegations, though previous statements from party leaders have criticised the Siddaramaiah government’s handling of various issues in Karnataka.
