Patna: Special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court has sentenced life imprisonment to all five convicted in Mahabodhi Temple serial blasts at the temple town of Bodh Gaya on Friday.
The judgement was pronounced by the NIA special judge Manoj Kumar Sinha after the argument from the defense and prosecution on the quantum of sentence.The convicts are Haider Ali, a native of Ranchi in Jharkhand, Mojibullah Ansari and Imtiyaz
Ansari, Omar Sidiqqui, and Azharuddin Qureishi, native of Raipur in Chhattisgarh.
All convicts were found guilty under various sections of Indian Penal Code, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Explosives Substances Act for conspiring, involvement in terrorist activities and arranging funds for encouraging terrorist activities. The serial blasts rocked Bodh Gaya on July 2013, injured five people and including two monks. Out of the 13 bombs that were planted 9 or 10 were exploded while others were defused. (UNI)
