Mumbai: The stocks responded positively to the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday as BSE benchmark Sensex zoomed over 1,700 points to settle at 48,004.71.
The Nifty surged 462.15 points and settled at 14,096.75.
Among stocks, the banking sector was among the top gainers with IndusInd Bank rising by 11 per cent.
As per the analyst, the mood of the markets was positive after the budget which focussed on health and investments.
The government allocated 34,000 crores for Covid-19 vaccines and eased the FDI policies. (UNI)
