Bus falls into deep gorge in Uttarakhand’s Almora, 28 bodies recovered; CM expresses grief

Almora/Nainital: At least 28 passengers were killed and others are feared trapped after a bus fell into a deep gorge in Uttarakhand’s Almora on Monday morning.
 
The death toll is expected to rise. District administration is engaged in relief and rescue work on war footing.
 
According to the information received, the accident took place in the coupe of Marchula. It is being told that a bus of Garhwal Motor Honors was coming from Dhumakot in Pauri Garhwal to Ramnagar.
 
The bus was packed with passengers. All the people were returning to their destination after celebrating Diwali.

According to Deputy Collector Sanjay Kohli, the death toll has reached 28. So far 28 bodies have been recovered from the spot.
 
It is being told that this death toll may increase. It is learned that some of the injured admitted to the hospitals have also died.
 
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed deep grief in this accident. He has ordered the suspension of Assistant Divisional Transport Officers (ARTO) Enforcement of Almora and Pauri.
 
The Chief Minister has also ordered an inquiry into the road accident and announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the kin of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh to the injured.
