Campaigning for 1st phase to end today; Modi, Shah, Rahul to address rallies

New Delhi:The electioneering for the first phase of Lok Sabha polls will come to an end on Tuesday evening.The last day of campaigning for the first phase will see  Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP chief Amit Shah, Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Congress general secretary in-charge of Uttar Pradesh (East) addressing several election rallies for their party candidates.
The Prime Minister will address rallies in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, while Mr Shah will address public meetings in Telangana, Maharashtra and Odisha.The Congress president will address public meetings in Assam and in Bihar. Ms Vadra will address meetings in constituencies situated in Western Uttar Pradesh.
 
In the first phase on April 11, a total of  91 constituencies, spread over 20 states and union territories, will go to the polls. In Andhra Pradesh, polls will be held in all 25 Lok Sabha seats and 17 in Telangana.
 
Assembly polls will be held in 175 seats in Andhra Pradesh, 32 in Sikkim and all 60 in Arunachal Pradesh. In Odisha, 28 out of 147 Assembly constituencies also will go to the polls in the first phase. 
 
Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal will have polling in all the seven phases. In the first phase, election will be held in eight seats in Uttar Pradesh, four in Bihar and two in West Bengal.
 
In Maharashtra, polling will be held in seven seats-- five each in Assam and Uttarakhand, four in Odisha, two each in Jammu and Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya and one each in Chhattisgarh, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep in the first phase. 
 
The Election Commission notified the first phase of polls on March 18, nomination process of which started the same day. Tuesday is the last day for filling of nominations for the fourth phase of Lok Sabha polls, 71 constituencies spread over nine states.(UNI)
