Cattle lifters shot dead a BSF jawan

Siliguri: A BSF jawan was shot dead by some cattle lifters while he tried to stop them from smuggling cattle heads across the Bangladesh border in West Bengal's Cooch Behar district, police investigating regicide said today.

District police super Bholanath Pandey, who visited the site of crime at Durganagar BPO under Dinhatta police station, said the BSF Jawan was shot dead by the cattle lifters when he tried to thwart them from smuggling of cattle heads into Bangladesh. The crime happened last night at an un-fenced border area with West Bengal. The Jawan, identified was Aravind Kumar of 42nd BSF Battalion.The BSF today detained one the accused from the area and handed over to the local police.(UNI)
