New Delhi: The Centre filed an application in the Top Court on Tuesday seeking permission for returning to original owners the 67-odd acres of land it had acquired around the 2.77 acre disputed Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid land.
Centre, in its application, said Ram Janambhoomi Nyas sought return of excess land acquired in 1991 to original owners.

It says SC in Ismail Faruqui judgment had said government could consider returning 67-odd acres of acquired land surrounding disputed land after Allahabad HC judgment on civil suits.

The Apex Court has not fixed any date for hearing the matter, but sources in the Supreme Court registry confirmed that the application would likely to come up within two weeks. (UNI)
