New Delhi: Amid border standoff at India, China and Bhutan tri-junction Doklam, the Chinese troops were transgressed into Uttarakhand’s Barahoti area, a day ahead of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval’s official visit to Beijing on July 27, 2017. According to sources in the Defence Ministry, “On July 26th evening, the soldiers of People Liberation Army (PLA) entered about 1-2 kms into Barahoti area of Uttarakhand.

Since there is no demarcation line between both the nations, the area stands disputed till the date. The Indo-Tibetian Police Force (ITBP) is stationed to secure the border.” After opposition from ITBP personnel, the Chinese troops had to step back. They stayed there for two hours, the sources added. However, the PLA denied that its troops had entered into Indian Territory. At the same time, they accepted that sometimes the soldiers crossed each other’s boundary due to no demarcated line in the area. India and China have been for weeks involved in a face-off in Doklam plateau of Bhutan. The ongoing tensions relate to the construction of a road by China in Bhutan’s Doklam region. (UNI)
