Lucknow: A class 6 student from Lucknow's Mohanlalganj area took his own life after allegedly losing Rs 13 lakh while playing an online game. The incident occurred on Monday evening in Dhanwasad village, leaving the entire community in shock.

The deceased has been identified as 14-year-old Yash Kumar, the only son of Suresh Kumar Yadav, a local painter. According to reports, Yash had been playing the popular online game Free Fire and had lost a massive sum of money through in-app purchases.

The issue came to light when Suresh Kumar visited the Union Bank’s Bijnor branch to update his passbook and discovered that Rs 13 lakh was missing from his account. These funds had been deposited after the sale of a piece of land around two years ago. Upon returning home, he spoke to Yash, who initially avoided the question but later admitted that the money had been spent while playing the game.

Suresh gently explained to his son the seriousness of the matter. At the time, Yash was attending tuition. His teacher also assured the family that he would speak to Yash and help him understand the situation better.

After tuition, Yash went to his room. A short while later, his family found him hanging. They immediately took him to the nearby community health center, where he was declared dead. The local police have sent the body for post-mortem examination.

Yash was a student of Class 6 at BIPS (Bharat International Public School). Suresh Kumar shared that he had never been harsh with his son and had only tried to guide him. The family, including Yash’s mother Vimla and younger sister Gungun, is devastated by the incident.
