Classical vocalist Pt Rajan Mishra dies of COVID

New Delhi: Renowned classical vocalist Pt Rajan Mishra passed away due to Covid-19 at St Stephen’s hospital here on Sunday. He was 70.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his condolence message posted on Twitter, “The death of Pandit Rajan Mishra ji, who left his indelible mark in the world of classical singing, is very sad. Mishraji’s association with the Banaras Gharana is an irreparable loss to the art and music world. My condolences to his family and fans in this hour of mourning. Om Shanti!”

A Padma Bhushan awardee, Pt Rajan Mishra was a part of the iconic duo of Pandit Rajan Sajan musical group and belonged to the famous Banaras Gharana. (UNI)
