Condolences pour in after Former Assam CM Tarun Gogoi expires

New Delhi:President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday mourned the passing of former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, saying he will always be remembered for the development of Assam, especially towards his efforts to improve law and order and fighting insurgency in the state. 
Reacting to the death of the former Assam leader, who was the longest serving chief minister of Assam, Mr Kovind expressed sadness at the news, remarking "the country has lost a veteran leader with rich political and administrative experience. His long tenure in office was a period of epochal change in Assam.
 
Extending condolences to the bereaved family, he said "He will always be remembered for the development of Assam and especially towards his efforts to improve law and order and fighting insurgency in the state. His passing away marks the end of an era. In this hour of grief, condolences to his family, friends and supporters."
 
The Vice President, in his condolence message, said in his long public life, the former CM had faithfully served the people of the nation and the state in various roles. "Your contribution to public service will always be remembered with respect," he added.

PM condoles demise of ex- cm Tarun Gogoi
 
Prime minister Narendra Modi condoled the demise of former three-time Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, who passed away at a Guwahati hospital on Monday, following post-COVID complications.
 
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Mr Modi posted, 'Shri Tarun Gogoi Ji was a popular leader and a veteran administrator, who had years of political experience in Assam as well as the Centre. Anguished by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family and supporters in this hour of sadness. Om Shanti.'

CM Biren condoles death of Tarun Gogoi
Chief Minister  N Biren Singh  expressed deep shock and offered  heartfelt condolences on the sudden demise of Tarun Gogoi, a veteran politician and the  former Chief Minister of Assam.
   
In his condolence message, Mr Singh remembered Gogoi as a tall politician, who had 
served the State of Assam as a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) four times.  He said that Tarun Gogoi became the Chief Minister of Assam in 2001 after he led his
party to victory in the State Assembly elections. 

Khandu condoles Tarun Gogois demise

Leaders of Jharkhand Congress express grief over passing of former Assam CM Tarun Gogoi
 
Ranchi:Leaders of Jharkhand Congress on Monday expressed their grief over the passing away of former Assam Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Tarun Gogoi.
 
JPCC chief Dr Rameshwar Oraon said that Tarun Gogoi was a strong pillar for the partynot only in the north east but in the entire country. He extended his condolences to his family
members and supporters and prayed to the almighty to rest his soul in peace.

The 86-year-old breathed his last in the ICU of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) at Guwahati in Assam.Gogoi is survived by wife Dolly, son & MP Gaurav and daughter Chandrima.
 
The longest serving Chief Minister of Assam, who had been undergoing treatment in the ICU of GMCH since November 1, was placed under mechanical ventilation on November 21.
 
He had tested positive for COVID 19 on August 25 and was admitted in the GMCH, where he underwent treatment for over 20 days before recovering from the infection.(UNI)
