COVID-19 cases cross 7000-mark, death toll at 239

New Delhi:The total number of pandemic novel coronavirus cases in the country surpassed the 7000-mark on Saturday morning with death toll soaring to 239 as 33 fresh deaths were reported today.
According to Union Health Ministry, the current figure of confirmed cases now stands at 7447 while the active cases of coronavirus in the country are 6565.
 
The total number of cured cases, with a slight improvement, have now reached 642.The pandemic has yet not entered the community transmission phase, the government had said on Friday.
 
In Maharasthra, which is so far the worst affected state by COVID-19 the cases have gone up to 1574 with fresh spike, followed by Tamil Nadu where the number has gone up to 911, followed by the national capital housing 903 confirmed cases.
 
Rajasthan is now at number three with 553 cases followed by Telangana with 473 cases.
 
Maharasthra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh are the states that have seen a surge in the numbers.
 
Maharashtra being the worst hit has the maximum casualties with 110 deaths so far followed by Madhya Pradesh with 33 deaths, and then Gujarat with 19.(UNI)
