COVID 19 : cases cross 9000 mark, 308 deaths

New Delhi: With a spike in fresh cases of COVID-19 since Sunday evening, the confirmed cases on Monday morning crossed the 9,000 mark across the country.According to the health ministry data, the death toll stands at 308 with 35 deaths reported since Sunday evening and as many as 9,152 were affected by the virus.
The data further states that while there were 7, 987 active cases of the deadly virus, 856 people were cured across the country.
 
Maharashtra has again seen a spike in the cases where the numbers have soared to 1,985 with 149 casualties so far, followed by the national capital where the cases have mounted to 1,154 with 24 deaths and Tamil Nadu at number three with 1043 cases and 11 deaths.
 
In Rajasthan the count has reached 804.Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi who had a video-conference with Chief Ministers on Saturday hinted for extending the lockdown period as the curve of coronavirus cases was not flattening.
 
As the nationwide lockdown is likely to be extended further, the Centre again clarified to the State governments that there was no bar on inter-State or intra-State transportation of goods.
 
To maintain undisrupted supply, the Home Ministry asked the States to issue passes to the staff of manufacturing units of essential goods.
 
As the cases are spiking steeply, the Health Ministry shared a data to show that more than adequate arrangements were in place.''In 601 hospitals, over 1 lakh beds are available,'' a health official had said.
 
Taking another step to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in the National Capital, a massive sanitisation drive will take place across the city's red and orange zones that are the containment zones and high risk zones respectively.The number of containment zone in Delhi are now 43, according to the government.(UNI)
