New Delhi:As the countrywide lockdown completed Day 5 on Sunday, the figure of Novel Coronavirus infections crossed the mark of 1000, with confirmed cases of COVID-19 rising to 1024.Fresh cases from different parts of the country were reported on Sunday, with the death toll rising to 27, the government said.
The number of active cases in the country at present amount to 901, the Health Ministry confirmed, while adding that 95 have so far been cured and discharged.
Around 15,24,266 passengers at the airport have been screened so far, as per the Health ministry and one person migrated from here.
In the past 24 hours, around 106 new cases of Coronavirus have been reported, as per official sources.
On Sunday, the Centre issued strict directions in terms of sealing the borders, in view of the complete lockdown, so that it can be observed with greater effect.
Meanwhile, without mincing any words, the Prime Minister, on his monthly radio address Mann Ki Baat, said lockdown is the only solution and those, who are defying it, are playing with their own lives.
"Our citizens must be wondering what kind of Prime Minister I am. But, lockdown is the only solution in front of us. Many people are still defying the lockdown. This is sad. Many people across the world did the same mistake," he said.
The focal point of the pandemic that is upending the country's economy in unprecedented ways -- Maharashtra -- has reported six deaths so far, followed by Gujarat (4), Karnataka (3), Madhya Pradesh and Delhi (2 each), and one each from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telengana, Bihar, Punjab, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.(UNI)
