COVID-19: India reports biggest 24-hr spike of 35,871 new cases in over 100 days

New Delhi: India on Thursday recorded a whopping 35,871 new cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours, pushing the country caseload to 1,14,74,605, while the death toll soared to 1,59,216 with 172 more fatalities.
According to the Union Health Ministry, the active cases rose by 17958 to stand at 2,52,364. It is now 2.20 per cent of the total caseload.
 
The past 24 hours saw 17,741 people recovering from the deadly virus, taking the total recovery count to 1,10,63,025, which is 96.41 per cent of the case tally. The fatality rate stood at 1.39 per cent.
 
Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 23,03,13,163 lakh samples have been tested so far for coronavirus. Out of this, 10,63,379 were tested in the past one day.
 
On the vaccination front, a total of 3,64,67,744 vaccine doses have been administered till 1900 hrs Wednesday.

Eight districts of Marathwada region of Maharashtra state reported 3332 fresh cases during the past 24 hours, and 32 more deaths which is biggest spike out in region , the health authorities informed, here on Thursday.
 
Details from all the district headquarters collected by UNI shows that out of the eight districts of the region, Aurangabad district was the worst affected with 1335 cases and 27 deaths, followed by Nanded with 597 new cases and 6 deaths, Jalna registered 552 new cases and four deaths,Beed registered 266 new cases and two deaths,Hingoli registered 54 new cases and two deaths,Parbhani had 235 cases and one death Latur had 179 cases and Osmanabad 94 cases .
 
Meanwhile ,during the past 24 hours total 23,179 fresh cases of corona positive spotted , highest in the year, bringing the total number of infections in the state to 23,70,507.While 84 more deaths were also reported taking the death toll to 53,080.
 
Meanwhile, a total of 9,138 patients recovered and were discharged taking the total number of recoveries to 21,63,391 across the state.
 
The state government has so far tested 1,78,435,95 samples for the disease .With this the recovery rates sharply goes down and stand to 91.26 per cent and fatality rate is 2.24 per cent.
 
At present 1,52,760 active patients across the state were undergoing treatment at different Covid centres and hospitals, they added.

No need to panic over Covid cases: Maha Health minister
 
Maharashtra state health minister Rajesh Tope said that, despite the increase in the number of Covid positive patients there is no need to panic.
 
Mr Tope talking to media on Wednesday evening in Mumbai said that , the number of RTPCR tests in Maharashtra was higher than other states and the aim was to vaccinate 17 million people in the state.
 
One 1880 vaccination centers have been sanctioned in the state, out of which 33,65,952 people have been vaccinated so far.1.70 crore people need to be vaccinated, for which 2.20 crore doses of Covid vaccine are required, Tope added.
 
However ,Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar. Javadekar tweeted that ,Out of 54 lakh doses of vaccine in Maharashtra, only 23 lakh doses have been used so far and 56 per cent vaccines have not been used yet,
 
Javadekar tweets came after the Shiv Sena demanded more vaccines for the state.It may noted that the Maharashtra state one of worst affected become hot pot of Covid cases as more than 23000 cased were detected on Wednesday which is highest so far .
 
Meanwhile, respective districts Administration has already starts to take numbers of preventive and strict measures to break the chain on the pandemic .(UNI)
