New Delhi:The Shaheen Bagh protest site, where people were agitating against Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), was cleared by the Delhi Police on Tuesday morning after 101 days in view of the lockdown in the national capital due to the COVID-19.
People at the protest site here were requested to leave but as they refused and the assembly was unlawful in view of the prohibitory orders, police took action against them and some of protesters were even detained.The police in the meanwhile is clearing the protest site, the tents and other arrangements made by the agitators on the road.Meanwhile, protest outside the Jamia university was also called off and the way was being cleared.
Protest site at the Hauz Rani area was also cleared early this morning , the police said.
Some protesters refused to leave the area despite being persuaded by the police and kept standing on the roads.The Delhi government put the national capital on lockdown since 0600 hours on Monday and all public transport and non-essential services have been suspended till March 31.(UNI)
