Curfew continues in Itanagar, extended till Wednesday

Itanagar: Curfew in the state capital has been extended till Wednesday morning in view of the on going law and order situation.
The curfew which was imposed on Saturday afternoon, following Friday's violence during the second day of the 48-hour bandh called by several organizations over the Permanent residential Certificate (PRC) to non-APST residents of Namsai and Changlang districts, has been extended till February 27, 0900 hrs.
 
The State Government on Sunday said that it has decided that no further action shall be taken in respect of grant of PRC.Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) BD Mishra has also appealed people to maintain peace.
 
As per reports, Chief Minister Pema Khandu has called for a all party meeting. He has also called a meeting with all the community based organisations in this regard.Mr Khandu has also appealed people to maintain peace.
 
The situation in the state capital turned violent on Sunday after mob burnt down the private residence of Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and even tried to march towards the Chief Minister private residence. They also brunt down vehicles besides pelting stones.
 
As per reports, two persons died after forces fired upon them. Earlier, one person has succumbed to injuries on the Friday's violence.(UNI)
