Bhubaneswar: The Air Intelligence wing of the Customs of Biju Patnaik International Airport(BPIA) today seized a gold bar of foreign origin valued at Rs9.29 lakh from the possession of a passenger.
Customs sources said the person of India origin and hailing from Delhi arrived at the BPIA from Bangkok on Air India flight no AI339.During the search operation the customs officials found a cylindrical gold bar wrapped with black adhesive tapes from the rectum of the passenger.
The gold bar of foreign origin weighing about 295.000 gms seized from the passenger who attempted to smuggled into India.Earlier also on at least two occasions, the customs officials at the BPIA have recovered gold bar of foreign origin from the passengers concealed in the rectum in a bid to smuggled it into India.(UNI)
