New Delhi:Cyclone 'Amphan' is being intensified and is likely to hit Bengal and Odisha coasts on Wednesday.
Informing this on Monday, India Meteorological Department said the cyclone may cause extensive damage in coastal districts of the two states.IMD further informed that 'Amphan' is very likely to intensify more into an extremely severe cyclonic storm during the next 24 hours.
"The (cyclonic) system is under continuous surveillance and the concerned state governments are being informed regularly," IMD said.
Meanwhile, Bengal and Odisha governments have geared up their disaster management authorities for relief and rescue operations in coastal areas in view of the upcoming cyclone-linked extreme weather events.(UNI)
