Cyclone Yaas: Police shift 91-year-old to shelter home in Odisha’s Kendrapada (VIDEO)

Over two lakh people from ten coastal districts of Odisha were evacuated to safer places till 4 PM as the very severe cyclonic storm 'YAAS' moved further into north Odisha coast to make landfall in between Dhamra Port and Balasore on the Odisha coast Tuesday noon.

Meanwhile, a video from Odisha’s Kendrapada district goes viral, in which some police officials are seen carrying a 91-year-old woman to shelter in the Talchua area.

The state government has deployed 52 NDRF teams, 60 ODRAF teams,206 Fire services teams, 86 OFDC teams and over 400 other Response teams in the relief and rescue operation in 12 districts in the state.

The government also deputed two senior state cadre officers to Balasore and Bhadrak to work under the district administration to supervise the rescue, relief and rehabilitation work till further orders.

Earlier the government has deployed five senior bureaucrats and five senior IPS officers to oversee the relief, rescue, rehabilitation and post cyclone restoration work in Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Mayurbhanja districts.

Meanwhile, the government has also cancelled all government holidays and directed the employees to stay in their respective headquarters and not to leave the station in any case without permission of the authority. (Inputs from UNI)
