New Delhi: Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Monday issued notices to Delhi Police and Education Department of Delhi Government over alleged sexual assault of two minor students in a government school in the National Capital.

According to DCW statement, it received information of sexual assault of two minor students of a government school in Delhi's Rohini.

A 13-year-old boy who is studying in class 8th in a government school was allegedly sexually assaulted by other students of the school.

He informed that in April this year, he attended school during summer camp wherein some students forcibly took him to a nearby park and sexually assaulted him for 7 days.

The student also alleged that the accused students also threatened him not to disclose the incident to anyone. A couple of days ago, he narrated his ordeal to two of his teachers, but they asked him not to report the matter.

Another student, aged 12-year-old also alleged that the same students sexually assaulted him as well.

He informed that in April this year, during the summer camp, he was allegedly sexually assaulted in the school toilet.

The student stated that the accused students had threatened him not to disclose the incident to anyone. He further alleged that around 16 days back, a student again tried to sexually assault him in the toilet.

He had narrated the incident to two of his teachers in July and August, but they asked him not to tell about the incident to anyone, the statement said.

The Commission has been informed that the parents of the student learnt about the incident around 6 days ago. When the mother of the child went to the school, the principal allegedly asked them not to talk about the incident to anyone, it said.

In the above mentioned cases, two separate FIRs have been registered at Shahbad Dairy Police Station.

In this regard, DCW has issued notices to Delhi Police and Education Department of Delhi Government.

In the notice, DCW Chairperson Swati Maliwal has asked the status of arrests made in the matter and sought details of action taken against school principal and teachers.

She has asked whether FIR have been registered against them under POCSO Act for allegedly not reporting the matter to authorities, it added.

DCW has asked Directorate of Education to provide an enquiry report in the matter. It has also asked whether the principal and the teachers of the school have been suspended for not reporting the incidents to authorities?

Swati Maliwal said, “These are very shocking incidents. Students of same school allegedly sexually assaulted their fellows. More shocking is that the teachers and principal allegedly asked students to keep quiet. Strong action should be taken against the perpetrators.

Also, FIR should be registered against school principal and teachers under POCSO Act for not reporting the incident to the authorities.” (UNI)
