New Delhi: After the ‘Piyari Didi’ scheme, the Congress on Wednesday announced its second guarantee, the ‘Jeevan Raksha’ scheme, promising health insurance of up to Rs 25 lakh.

Addressing a press conference at the DPCC headquarters here, former Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot, along with Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav, said, “The Delhi Congress has decided to include 'Jeevan Raksha Yojana' in its manifesto. Under the Jeevan Raksha Yojana, health insurance of up to Rs 25 lakh will be available. We started a similar scheme in Rajasthan under which people of the state were given free treatment up to Rs 25 lakh.”

“We had made the 'Right to Health' Act in Rajasthan. In which rights were given to the public, and this Act was implemented in all the hospitals. This was a revolutionary scheme in Rajasthan. I am happy that I was called here to launch the Jeevan Raksha Yojana. This will be a game-changing scheme for Delhi, and we have to spread its information to the public,” Gehlot said.

Elaborating on the Chiranjeevi scheme, the former Rajasthan Chief Minister said that a patient can avail himself or herself of treatment even if he or she does not have a card or registration is not done. Moreover, any person from another state who becomes a victim of an accident in Rajasthan will get free treatment.

Meanwhile, Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav said that the 'Jeevan Raksha Yojana' will give assurance to the people of Delhi about the safety of their lives.

He said that the 'Jeevan Raksha Yojana' in Delhi will include all private hospitals also.

Accusing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi of neglecting the health facilities in Delhi, Yadav said, “The current government of Delhi had made many promises regarding health facilities but did not do any work. That is why we have brought this scheme for the people of Delhi”.

He said that forging an alliance with the AAP during the Lok Sabha elections was a big mistake, and it will not commit the same mistake again.

On Monday, the Congress had announced the ‘Pyari Didi’ scheme, under which the party promised to give Rs 2,500 per month to every woman of the National Capital.

It may be mentioned that Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar yesterday announced the schedule for the Assembly elections in Delhi. The National Capital will go to the polls in a single phase on February 5, and counting of votes will be on February 8.
