Delhi Police on Tuesday said it has busted an illegal immigration nexus of Bangladeshi nationals and arrested 11 individuals.According to the police, the illegal immigrants used jungle routes and express trains to enter Indian territory. The accused, including document forgers, Aadhaar operators, and tech experts, used a fake website, 'JANTAPRINTS.SITE,' to generate fraudulent birth certificates and other IDs.

The racket came to light following an incident reported on October 21, 2024, which turned out to be the murder of Sentu Sheikh alias Raja in Delhi’s Sangam Vihar.During the investigation of this murder, four Bangladeshi nationals—Midul Miyan alias Akash Ahmed, Fardeen Ahmed alias Abhi Ahmed, and two women were arrested. The accused confessed during interrogation that Sentu Sheikh had been threatening them on various pretexts. To eliminate him, they planned his murder a month in advance. According to their plan, they strangled him and stole his cash and belongings, which were recovered during the investigation.

During questioning, all four presented their Bangladeshi ID cards (chip-based NID cards) or birth certificates. The police also recovered 21 Aadhaar cards, 4 voter ID cards, and 8 PAN cards suspected to belong to Bangladeshi nationals from Sentu Sheikh's residence. These findings shifted the focus of the investigation towards uncovering a gang involved in creating fake Indian documents and facilitating illegal immigration.

"Four voter ID cards belonging to Bangladeshi nationals were recovered from Sentu Sheikh's residence. Efforts were made to trace all four individuals, and one such woman was located in Bareilly," police said.Investigations revealed that her voter ID card was issued using Aadhaar registered at Sentu Sheikh's address. She admitted that Sentu had facilitated the creation of her Aadhaar and voter ID cards using forged documents, it said.

Upon further questioning, she provided her Bangladeshi identity documents. Her Bangladeshi birth certificate, issued by the Dhaka City Corporation, was retrieved from her phone, along with her parents' Bangladeshi national ID cards, the police added.During the probe, police seized multiple fake identity documents, including6 laptops, 6 mobile phones, Aadhar card machine, Record register and various documents, 25 Aadhaar cards, 4 Voter ID cards, and 8 PAN cards suspected to belong to Bangladeshi nationals.Further investigation in the case is underway.(UNI)<>
