New Delhi: After Piyari Didi and Jeevan Rakshak schemes, the Congress on Sunday launched another guarantee 'Yuva Udaan Yojana' under which educated and unemployed youth of Delhi will be provided with Rs 8,500 per month apprenticeship.
Addressing a press conference here, senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot along with Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav, senior leader Qazi Nizamuddin and other leaders said that unemployment has gripped the National Capital and both the Central and the Delhi government had failed to address this burning issue.
He said, "On February 5, Delhi will vote a new government, after the formation of Congress government, educated and unemployed youth will be given one year apprenticeship and financial assistance of Rs 8,500 under the Yuva Udaan Yojana".
He further said that besides providing financial assistance, they will also try to absorb the unemployed youth into the same institute or areas from where they have received training.
He said, "Creating employment should be the first priority of any government. But both the state government led by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and BJP-led central governments have ignored the unemployed youth. Educated youth should have been given employment, but both the central and state governments could not address this issue even after getting the opportunity."
He said, "The Congress had always worked for the people. The Congress government did excellent work in the field of IIT, in which I myself was a minister. Today politics in Delhi is just about allegations and counter allegations, but now people want a better alternative. We hope that in the upcoming Delhi elections, people will choose the Congress party".
Pilot said that the Congress went among the public and listened to their problems and after discussing those problems with experts, the party had decided to offer these guarantees.
Accusing both the AAP and the BJP of neglecting the people of Delhi, Pilot said, "Both the AAP and BJP only blamed each other, but did not fulfill their own promises and forgot the public, but Congress understands its responsibility. That is why we are offering this guarantee with full commitment, because the public knowns that what we say we do".
It may be mentioned that Delhi will go to polls on February 5 and the counting of votes will take place on 8th.
