New Delhi: Delhi registered 946 cases of COVID-19 and 78 deaths from the virus in the past 24 hours, a health bulletin said here on Sunday.

The positivity rate in the National Capital has increased slightly to 1.25 per cent while the fatality rate stands at 1.69 per cent.

The peak of the positivity rate during the second wave in Delhi was 36 per cent on April 22. The active cases have come down to 12,100 as a total of 1,803 patients recovered in the past day.

The fresh cases came from a total of 75,444 tests, comprising 53,259 RT PCR/CBNAAT/True Nat and 22,181 rapid antigen tests, conducted in the last 24 hours.

The Delhi government started vaccinating the population between 18-45 years from May 1 but fighting for vaccine doses since May 22.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has floated a global tender for the procurement of anti-COVID-19 vaccines.

The ongoing COVID-19-induced lockdown will be relaxed for construction work and operation of factories from May 31 onwards, Mr Kejriwal has said.

Delhi was placed under a six-day lockdown on April 19. As infections and deaths continued to spike and pushed the city's health infrastructure past its limits, the lockdown was extended several times.
