New Delhi: The national capital has reported biggest single-day spike of 10,732 cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, taking the Delhi's caseload to 7,25,155, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal informed on Sunday.

“There is no doubt that the situation is very grave, but the AAP government is closely following it”, Mr Kejriwal averred during a televised address.

Though, the Chief Minister, ruled out the possibility of a lockdown, yet, maintained that it can be imposed if the hospital system collapses.

He urged the people to stay at home as much as possible, as the ongoing peak has surpassed the intensity of November 2020.

Mr Kejriwal once again requested the Centre to remove age restrictions on Covid-19 vaccination. “The Delhi government is ready to conduct a door-to-door campaign to vaccinate people. 65 per cent of patients in Delhi are below 45 years of age,” he said there is dire need to vaccinate this population on war footing scale.

The Delhi government had on Saturday announced a fresh set of guidelines amid the recent spurt in Covid-19 cases. (UNI)
