Mumbai: The swearing-in ceremony of the Devendra Fadnavis-led Mahayuti government will be held at the historic Azad Maidan here on Thursday amidst five thousand "Ladki Bahin" (beloved sisters) who played an important role in ensuring the grand coalition retained power in the recent Maharashtra Assembly polls.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of all states along with leaders of the National Democratic Alliance have been invited for this ceremony.
A cultural programs has also been organised on the occasion.
A grand platform has been set up, on which the Prime Minister, the state Governor, Chief Minister Fadnavis and the two Deputy Chief Ministers will be seated in the first row. The would-be Ministers will be seated on one side and some important personalities on the other side.
Seating arrangements has been made for around 25,000 people, especially for the women, who are believed to have voted in large numbers in favour of the Mahayuti.
'Ek Hai To Safe Hai' slogan to be seen in the ceremony
During the assembly election campaign, the BJP raised the slogan 'Ek Hai To Safe Hai' (If you are together, you are safe). The slogan will be seen in the oath-taking ceremony as well, and a special room has been created where Mahayuti workers will sit wearing t-shirts on which will be written 'Ek Hai To Safe Hai'.
A large posses of police personnel led by crack officers will be on duty in the Azad Maidan area for the ceremony. "One Joint Commissioner of Police, three Additional Commissioners of Police, six Deputy Commissioners of Police, 16 Assistant Deputy Commissioners of Police and around 600 police officers will be present here," said an official.
Apart from the PM and the Home Minister, BJP National President J.P. Nadda, all Union Ministers, Chief Ministers of various states and leaders of all parties in the state have also been invited, said BJP state spokesperson Sandeep Khardekhar.
Tight security arrangements will be made at important places in Mumbai including the Maidan. About 5,000 policemen will be deployed in the Maidan area. There will be two riot control teams, bomb detection and disposal teams.
Stringent security will be provided on the arrival and exit routes of all dignitaries.
