Ambassa: In an incident of unlawful child labour and the inhuman torture on a minor 08 years old girl, a doctor of Agartala Medical College and Hospital (AGMC) identified as Dr Parendra Debbarma and his family came under allegation and mounting pressure as the local people and the Child Welfare Committee demanded stringent action against such heinous attempts.
The incident, as per the police and the local people, happened in the capital city of Agartala. The doctor took a minor girl with the consent of the parents for her education and rearing up and from the bordering subdivision of Kamalpur some three months ago.
The minor girl, hailed from a tea-worker family stricken with abject poverty was from the Mahabir Tea Estate area in the subdivision. The parents of the victim girl informed that the doctor took the girl three months ago to rear her up, educate her properly and to ensure company for their lonely child. The victim girl was allowed to contact her parents once a month over the telephone.
On Thursday at around 1030 hrs the girl was brought into her native village by some relatives of the doctor and they tried to escape leaving the girl in front of her house. But the villagers stopped them. Then the parents of the girl noticed severe injury marks all over the body of the girl. The marks were of cut, burn and thrashing.
Immediately the local panchayat shifted the girl with her mother to the local hospital. Police were called. The doctors in the hospital found the injuries of severe nature and referred the girl to the District Hospital.
In between, the members of the District Child Welfare Committee reached the hospital and assured of every possible help. Meanwhile, the police detained the trio who took the girl to leave after a furious protest from the local villagers.
In the evening, BJP Kamalpur Mandal President Prasanta Sinha visited the girl in the hospital and assured her of every possible administrative as well as legal help to the family.
However, the role of the police created much ado as till 2200 hrs the doctor along with the son of Tipra Motha MDC Ananata Debbarma tried to mitigate the issue and the police yet not disclosed anything about registering the case.
However, the Superintendent of Police (SP) for Dhalai assured to act as per law in this heinous incident.(UNI)
