New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday extended the temporary suspension of internet services at Singhu, Ghazipur and Tikri till February 2.
Earlier, the internet services at Delhi borders had been suspended for 48 hours till 2300 hrs pm on January 31.
According to Union Home Ministry order, the MHA invoked the Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services (Public Emergency or Public Safety Rules 2017) of the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885 to suspend internet in Singhu, Ghazipur and Tikri from 2300 hrs January 31 to 2300 hrs on February 2.
Earlier on January 26, the Ministry has also temporarily suspended the internet services when the violence erupted during the farmer's tractor rally in many parts of the city for 24 hours.
The internet services were also been suspended in 15 districts of Haryana on January 29 in wake of a clash between the farmers protesting at Singhu border and allegedly with the local youths who wanted to get the areas vacated at the outskirt of Delhi border. (UNI)
