Farooq tests positive for COVID-19; Omar goes in self-isolation

Srinagar:National Conference (NC) president and Member of Parliament (MP) Farooq Abdullah has tested positive for COVID-19, weeks after he got first dose of vaccine against the virus in a Srinagar hospital.
This was stated by former chief minister and NC Vice President Omar Abdullah, who has gone into self-isolation. “My father has tested positive for COVID-19 and is showing some symptoms,” Omar Abdullah wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
 
Omar said he will be self-isolating along with other family members until they get tested. “I request anyone who has come in to contact with us over the last few days to take all the mandated precautions,” he added.
 
Meanwhile, sources said that Omar Abdullah, who was scheduled to attend a rally in central Kashmir district of Budgam on Tuesday, has cancelled his programme.

Earlier this month, Farooq Abdullah had taken the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine at S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar.
 
Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a significant increase in the number of COVID-19 cases during the last couple of week. The Union Territory recorded over 200 new cases of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, taking the tally of infected people to over 1.3 lakh.

Omar thanks Modi for praying for speedy recovery of Farooq
 
Former chief minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for praying for the speedy recovery of his father and National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah, who tested positive for COVID-19.
 
Farooq Abdullah, who is a sitting Member of Parliament (MP) from Srinagar, was tested positive for COVID-19, weeks after he got first dose of Coronavirus vaccine in a Srinagar hospital.
 
“My father & the rest of the family join me in thanking you for your wishes & prayers @narendramodi ji,” Omar wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
 
Mr Omar was responding to a tweet by PM Modi, which read, “Praying for the good health and speedy recovery of Dr. Farooq Abdullah Ji. Also praying for your and the entire family’s good health.”
 
“My father has tested positive for COVID-19 & is showing some symptoms. I will be self-isolating along with other family members until we get ourselves tested. I request anyone who has come in to contact with us over the last few days to take all the mandated precautions,” Omar Abdullah had tweeted earlier in the day.(UNI)
