New Delhi: Cold waves continued to sweep across North India as dense fog engulfed Delhi and NCR on a chilly Thursday Morning ,affecting rail,road and air traffic here.Due to low visibility,60 trains were delayed, 18 rescheduled and 14 were cancelled while arrival and departure of several flights was also affected due to the thick fog cover.General visibility was around 50 m at the airport ,according to the IMD.
The minimum temperature in the national capital today dropped to 5 degrees C, two points below normal for the season and the minimum recorded so far this winter.The air quality remained 'very poor' in the city with the index value of 364 at 1000 hours, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.
Sallow fog is likely to remain during the day, while the sky will be clear , the weatherman said.The maximum temperature during the day is to hover around 19 degrees C, according to the Met official.Relative humidity at 0830 hours was 100 per cent , the Met office said.Yesterday, the maximum temperature settled at 18.4 degrees C, a notch below normal for the season.
