Former BJP MP Chandan Mitra joined TMC: Mamata

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinammol Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Saturday announced former Rajya Sabha BJP MP and eminent journalist Chandan Mitra, former CPI(M) MP Moinul Hasan, Congress's Sabina Yasmin and Mizoram advocate-general Biswajit Deb have joined TMC.
Mr Mitra, who had resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday, joined the TMC today, Ms Banerjee announced during the Shahid Diwas rally in the city.Besides, former CPI(M) MP Moinul Hasan, Congress's Sabina Yasmin and Mizoram advocate-general Biswajit Deb have also joined TMC, she said.
 
Two-term former Rajya Sabha member Chandan Mitra resigned from the BJP on Wednesday. "I have sent my resignation letter (to BJP)," he had said earlier. "We will start 'BJP hatao, desh bachao' campaign on August 15, 2019 which will be a big blow, Bengal will show the path," the TMC supremo added.(UNI)
