Fuel leak at Manipur's power station contaminates river, people living nearby flees

Imphal: Some miscreants reportedly ransacked Leimakhong power project near the Military headquarters, Leimakhong and poured spilled oil to the river which flows towards the Manipur valley areas.
 
N Geoffrey, Secretary to Chief Minister said in a statement that the leakage flowing towards Imphal river is heavy fuel from Leimakhong power plant.
 
Government has ordered immediate step to prevent an environmental calamity. People living near the river have fled the area.

In another incident, four villagers, including a father and son were feared captured and killed by some armed miscreants belonging to another ethnic group.
 
Villagers of Wangoo of Bishenpur said four persons identified as A Dara Singh, O Romen, Th Ibomcha and his son Th Anand were fetching firewood when they were overpowered by armed miscreants suspected to be belonging to another ethnic group.
 
Later the villagers saw the mutilated dead bodies of two missing persons in the social network platform operated by various Kuki organisations.
 
The bodies are yet to be recovered, police said. (UNI)
