German woman raped by taxi driver on way to Hyderabad airport

Hyderabad: A foreign woman was allegedly raped by a taxi driver in city under the Pahadi Sharif police station limits on Monday.

According to police, the victim, identified as a German national, had arrived in Hyderabad a week ago to meet a local youth who had studied in Germany.

During her stay, she toured several places in the city along with friends.

On Monday night, after the taxi driver dropped off her friends at their respective homes, he allegedly sexually assaulted her while en route to the airport. The incident took place at Mamidipally.

The woman managed to alert the police by dialing 100.

Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation, forming special teams to track down the accused.

Further inquiries are underway, police officials said.
