Panaji: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday announced Amit Palekar as its chief ministerial candidate for Goa.
'Amit Paleykar will be our CM candidate for Goa,' Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced at an event here.
Praising Palekar, who is an advocate by profession, Kejriwal said Palekar was an honest man and would be contesting the assembly elections for the first time.
Palekar, who belongs to Bhandari Samaj, came to lime light when he sat on a hunger strike demanding demolition of an alleged structure in old Goa. Later, the government took action against the builders of the structure.
Palekar's mother was Sarpanch of St Cruz in North Goa.
